Sushi before the theatre in Covent Garden

Great Queen Street sits between Covent Garden and Holborn, which puts Akatuki within a few minutes' walk of the Royal Opera House, the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and the Gillian Lynne Theatre. If you have tickets for an evening performance, dinner beforehand does not have to be a rush.

Timing your table

The kitchen opens at noon and serves through the afternoon, so there is no gap between lunch and dinner to work around. For a 7.30pm curtain, a table at about 5.45pm leaves room for a full meal and a short walk afterwards. Later performances suit a 6.30pm booking.

What to order

From the sushi counter, the Volcano Roll and the Akatuki Roll are the two rolls guests come back for, and the sashimi sets are built for sharing. If you would rather eat something hot before heading out, the Ishi Yaki plates arrive on a heated stone and the Wasabi-Infused Lobster is a single, generous course rather than a long procession of them.
